Banff Playwrights Colony
A room with a view and a breath of fresh air for a playwright; the Colony is a 5-week long retreat for Canadian playwrights involved in text-based creation. Professional actors and dramaturges are on hand to assist in the development of the work in progress. The Banff Playwrights Colony is presented through an alliance of Alberta Theatre Projects, The Banff Centre and the Canada Council of the Arts.
New Plays in Development
It's not just 5 weeks of new play fun! Were always working on the Enbridge playRites Festival of New Canadian Plays; inviting playwrights from across Canada to develop projects we are interested in here at ATP by offering dramaturgical feedback, readings and workshops of scripts in progress. The public is invited to participate by attending the Platform Play series during the Enbridge playRites Festival of New Canadian Plays.
Playwrights in Residence
Playwrights have always been at the heart of ATP; each season, ATP invites a few Canadian playwrights whose work we are developing for production join us in residence. ATP's Playwrights in Residence program fosters new work, shares ATP's expertise and multiplies our relationships with writers.
Script Archive & Library
SHHHH! It's ATP's best kept secret; ATP maintains an ever-growing inventory of approximately 1,500 scripts from Canadian and international playwrights, many of these plays are not otherwise published. The breadth of the collection reflects ATP's unequalled contribution to Canadian playwriting over our history. Access to the library is by appointment only.
To make an appointment, please contact Amy Lynn Strilchuk, Assistant Dramaturg, at (403) 294-7433 ext 1109
